LOUISIANA’S SOUTHEAST STAR
Louisiana’s Southeast Star has served quietly and unselfishly,
but most effectively, behind the scene never wondering what she as an individual would
get. Her goal has always been how to
better Delta Kappa Gamma whether it be at the local, district, state, regional,
or international level.
She served various roles in her chapter since she was
initiated in 1995, including twice as president, is regarded highly by peers,
and is an exemplary sister. At State,
she served on or as chairman of Finance Committee six years, Parliamentary
Advisor, State Second Vice President / Membership Chairman and now State First
Vice President/Educational Excellence Chairman.
She initiated the “Golden Rose” certificates to recognize members age 55
and over who are still active in education. She is sometimes known as the
T-Shirt Lady because she has designed the last two State T-Shirts and headed
selling them to benefit some area of Epsilon State. She has not only attended several Southeast
Regional Conferences and International Conventions but she presented in
Chicago, Little Rock, Spokane, Louisville, and will in New York. She was a
participant then a presenter more than once at Epsilon State Bea Davis
Leadership Seminar. She attended International Golden Gift Seminar.
This
lady doesn’t miss ballgames for her Haughton Buccaneers and often drives after
those games till the wee hours of the morning - sometimes 3:00 o’clock or
later– to attend any meeting to represent Epsilon State.
She goes beyond her Delta Kappa Gamma family
to contribute to in the community as assistant principal of Haughton High
School. At her church, she teaches Sunday School and is part of a group who provides
dinner for Grace Home, a place for patients in last stages of cancer.
Is there any wonder we in Louisiana are proud
to present to you our Southeast Star Martha Turner !
